One of Northumberland’s most famous buildings, Bamburgh castle was once home to the ancient kings of Northumberland. However, what we see today is a much recent structure that was rebuilt in the late Victorian era, by Lord Armstrong after spending a fortune. He also built Cragside House, gardens and estates surrounding it.
